I. Registration
In order to participate in the RC06 Seminar this September, you can only pay for the CFR membership as well as for the seminar registration fee, which you can do on our website (https://amarys-jtb.jp/RC06/) until July 31st. Please note that to register for the ISA membership is not an obligation for participating in the forthcoming RC06 international seminar, although as the ISA RC06 organizing committee, we would appreciate if the participants would register for the ISA membership, too.
1. Seminar Registration Fee:
Teaching Staff & Senior Researcher (Category A)*: JPY 20,000
Teaching Staff & Senior Researcher (Category B)**: JPY 15,000
Student & Post-doctoral Researcher: JPY 10,000
Accompanying Person: JPY 10,000
Invitation (Special Session Presenter): JPY 0
*Category A:
North American and European countries, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, South Africa
**Category B:
Thailand, India, Vietnam, Brazil
Registration fee includes: Admission to the programs, Congress bag (with Program), Welcome reception, Lunch box for three days (September 12th-14th), Free drink at coffee breaks.
Accompanying Person registration fee also includes Welcome reception, Lunch box etc.
You are requested to pay the Seminar Registration Fee by our online system on the CFR Kyoto Seminar pre-registration website (https://amarys-jtb.jp/RC06/) by July 31st, 2011, otherwise your name will be dropped from the conference program. If you have any problems, do not hesitate to contact us (cfr2011.kyoto@gmail.com).
2. CFR Registration Fee:
The four-year membership fee for the CFR is US$40 (US$10 for students).
The following website address will take you to CFR RC06’s page: http://www.isa-sociology.org/rc06.htm. Scroll down to “Membership” and click on https://secured.com/~f3641/formisa.htm. This is the ISA’s ‘Individual Membership Form’. Section two of the form deals with research committees, working groups and thematic groups. The Committee on Family Research (RC06) is listed at Number 6. Once you have provided all the relevant details, you can submit the form online by clicking on the button labeled “Submit form to ISA”.
You can pay the CFR Membership Fee also on the CFR Kyoto Seminar pre-registration website (https://amarys-jtb.jp/RC06/).
The deadline for the registration is July 31st, 2011 to keep your name on the program!
II. Travel & Arrival
1. Transportation from Kansai International Airport to Kyoto
There are three recommendable ways of how to get to Kyoto from Kansai International Airport:
・MK Taxi (Kansai International sky gate shuttle):
MK taxi is a sky gate shuttle that takes you directly to your hotel in Kyoto. It usually takes 90-150 minutes.
Fare:
Kansai International Airport ⇔ Kyoto City (designated hotel): 3,500yen (one-way)
Pre-reservation is strongly recommended.

・Airport Limousine Bus (Bus)
There is a limousine bus service from Kansai International Airport to Kyoto Station. It takes about 80 minutes.
Fare:
Kansai International Airport ⇔ Kyoto Station (Hachijoguchi side): 2,500yen (one-way)
You cannot make a pre-reservation.

・Kansai Airport Express HARUKA (Train)
There are several kinds of trains that leave and arrive at Kansai Airport, but there is only one train that takes you directly to Kyoto Station: Kansai Airport Express HARUKA. It takes about 75 minutes to get to Kyoto Station.

Kansai International Airport ⇔ Kyoto Station: 2,980yen (non-reserved seat; one-way)
Kansai International Airport ⇔ Kyoto Station: 3,490yen (reserved seat; one-way)
2. Accommodation

We will try to accommodate your request as much as possible, but please note that it depends on the availability of the hotel rooms.

3. How to get to the hotels from Kyoto Station?
・To Kyoto Royal Hotel & Spa and Hotel Alpha Kyoto:
Take Kyoto City bus line #205 from Kyoto Station to Kawaramachi-Sanjo, which usually takes about 15 minutes.
Or, take the Subway Karasuma Line from Kyoto Station to Karasumaoike Station, then change the line to Tozai Line and get off the train at Kyoto Shiyakusyomae Station. It takes about 1 minute from the Station to get to the hotels by walk.
・To the Palace Side Hotel:
Take the Subway Karasuma Line from Kyoto Station to Marutamachi Station.
It takes about 8 minutes from Marutamachi Station to get to the hotel by walk.
4. How to get to Kyoto University from the hotels?
・From Kyoto Royal Hotel & Spa and Hotel Alpha Kyoto:
Take Kyoto City bus line #3 or #17 from Kawaramachi-Sanjo to Hyakumanben, which usually takes about 20-25 minutes. If you take a taxi, it will take aproximately 1500-2000 JPY.
・From the Palace Side Hotel:
Please first walk to Imadegawa Street, which only takes about 10 minutes from the Hotel, and then take Kyoto City bus line #102, or #201, or #203 to Hyakumanben, which usually takes about 10-15 minutes. If you take a taxi, it will take aproximately 1500 JPY.
The university is situated at the Southeast corner of Hyakumanben Square.
III. Call for Discussants and Chairs
The ISA Research Committee on Family RC06 Organizing Committee is calling for discussants as well as chairpersons for each session scheduled in the Seminar Program.
